What is measured and tracked with data can be improved and achieved. At a recent virtual conference of the European Health Forum Gastein, three European organizations involved in oncology health policies committed to jointly developing and promoting the concept of the European Cancer Dashboard to contribute to the success of the upcoming European Cancer Plan.
The European Cancer Dashboard has been proposed as the main tool for monitoring and implementing the Plan and has received strong support from the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO), the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC), and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). Based on the principle that “what is measured and tracked with data can be improved and achieved,” the European Cancer Dashboard would be a very powerful and effective tool for monitoring key indicators at the European level, allowing visual representation of successes related to the goals of the European Cancer Plan. Interested stakeholders believe that if the European Cancer Dashboard concept can be immediately integrated into the Plan, its development can begin right away, ensuring public awareness and implementation starting in 2021 and beyond.
