The report was prepared by the Swedish Institute for Health Economics and presents the main trends in Europe, including outcomes for cancer patients, disease burden, and the availability of healthcare and treatment for cancer patients, as well as potential solutions for combating cancer. Thanks to advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, outcomes for cancer patients are improving. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Cancer is increasingly impacting healthcare systems in Europe. Over the past two decades, the number of people diagnosed with cancer has increased by approximately 50%. Today, cancer is the cause of one in four deaths in Europe, making it the second most common cause of death and disability, just after cardiovascular diseases. With the aging and growing population in Europe, this trend is likely to continue. According to projections, the number of cancer cases will increase by an additional 775,000 by 2040 .<\/p>\n\t\t
